Kernel Update with EPOS

Kernel updates or kernel patches - with EPOS they can be automated, it's fast and easy!

Automation

Patching or replacing kernels on SAP systems can be quite time-consuming! With EPOS the process can be done fast and fully automated. Fallback included!

Step 1:
Select the systems on which the kernel is to be patched or replaced and create the path to the SAPCAR directory and for the patch repositiry in the EPOS GUI.

Step 2:
Start the job. EPOS checks on all selected systems which kernel state is installed. And checks in the repository if there are new patches available.

Step 3:
For each selected system, the summary will show you which kernel is installed and which patches are available for an update.

Step 4:
You can then either accept the selection made by EPOS or choose to add or omit patches from the repository.

Step 5:
Start the job and schedule it at a time that is convenient for you.

Step 6:
EPOS copies the selected patches to the target systems, stops the SAP systems, patches or replaces the kernels, restarts the SAP systems and performs various checks.

Step 7:
In the Summarylog you can check the success of the action.

In the event that an SAP system cannot be started, the fallback takes effect and reimports the old kernel. This will also be logged in the summary log.
