EPOS Connect 2024: Driving solutions together

Event Report | The premiere of the event series, “EPOS Connect” received a lot of positive feedback, further strengthening the bond between Empirius and its customers.

The day was absolutely worth it"

This is how one attendee summed up the event held in late October at Munich’s Motorworld. Another participant elaborated:

As an EPOS user, it’s always essential to learn about updates and advancements in the SAP Basis Automation Suite as early as possible. Even more valuable, however, are the practical tips and tricks for solving challenges with EPOS - and this is exactly what this event delivered.

With such feedback, the expectations for this inaugural event format were fully met. Anticipation is already building for next year’s EPOS Connect!

EPOS - Today and tomorrow

Attendees were provided with valuable insights into the automation solution suite EPOS, alongside detailed information about Empirius itself. More than that, they gained a preview of where EPOS is headed - both in the near and distant future - and insights into the strategy and vision for EPOS.

Key themes included:

  • EPOS as Single Point of Truth & Control
  • Addressing End-of-Life (EOL) products such as the SAP Solution Manager
  • An alternative to SAP Rise
  • Keep Control (also for on-prem)
  • Extending EPOS to non-SAP environments
  • Ensuring long-term investment protection

New major release: EPOS 24.9

A significant portion of the day was dedicated to unveiling the new major release, EPOS 24.9, packed with numerous enhancements and functional improvements.

Highlights include:

  • Using SAP task lists in BlueCopy
  • Leveraging the WebUI in BlueClone
  • New and advanced apps for the EPOS Automation Engine
  • Email alerting (SM02) and status tracking in EPOS Reporting
  • A destination repository and Admin Engine within the EPOS Framework

By users, for users

Two customer presentations acted as a catalyst for “how-to-solve with EPOS,” showcasing real-world use cases from EPOS users LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co. KG and service provider SoftwareOne.

User story: LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co. KG

A representative explained how EPOS facilitated the automated updating of their SAP system landscape (comprising 40 SAP systems, SAP HANA databases, 100 SAP servers running SLES 15 in 24/7 operation). This included performing SAP HANA updates, SAP kernel updates, and server OS upgrades - all in a single seamless process.

User Story: SoftwareOne

SoftwareOne demonstrated how EPOS supports their SAP Basis Managed Services for clients, highlighting the value Empirius’ SAP Basis Automation Suite brings to them as SAP service providers.

A glimpse into the day

What's next?

Looking ahead, the EPOS Connect event series is planned to take place both in Munich (in the south) and Hamburg (in the north).

Additionally, it is currently being explored how a virtual EPOS customer roundtable - a forum where customers can regularly connect with each other and with Empirius to share solutions, tips, and insights about the SAP Basis Automation Suite - can be implemented in the upcoming months, helping to foster and drive meaningful connections together.
