BlueCopy 9.3.8 released - Outlook to 9.4 and 10.0

Finally, we have released a small fix release after the .7-fix release. Although it is only a small fix release, it contains some "non-unimportant" (i.e. important) fixes. Besides the release notes, in the following you will get some information about the upcoming releases.

New Features, Enhancements and Fixes in BlueCopy Suite V9.3.8 (Build 11413, 09-DEC-19)

  • NEW: Support for 4.6C, especially but not limited to BDLS
  • FIXED: Oracle RAC Support
  • FIXED: BDLS Monitoring
  • FIXED: Restart of failed post copy import methods after client import (were falsely skipped)
  • FIXED: SSF_PSE_WIZARD added to STRUST TableSet
  • FIXED: startsap/stopsap when using own UserExits
  • FIXED: bluecat copying not directly as exe (windows security)
  • FIXED: Several SAP ASE related problems (stopping, Windows 2008R2 Powershell)
  • FIXED: SAP Hana Fixes (Recovery timestamp)
  • FIXED: SunOS/HP-UX/AIX/Windows: Wrong line feeds
  • FIXED: AIX locale parsing

Release 9.4 is nearly finished, but due to christmas and holiday season, we did not want to hurry. According to our motto "stability before features", we will release 9.4 at the beginning of 2020. In short, this release mainly contains nice Hana handling benefits and extensive LDAP support. We encourage all of our customers to test this version, if you plan to perform copies with SAP Hana! Please write a short mail to our support mailbox, and you will get a download link. If you tell us, when exactly you are going to perform the copy, we will ensure that there is a Hana Expert available.

New Features, Enhancements and Fixes in BlueCopy Suite V9.4.0 (Build 11xxx, xx-JAN-20)

  • Extensive LDAP Authorization
  • BlueAgent for secure and securely logged HPU access (high privileged users)
  • Hana password backup features despite lack of functionality from SAP
  • Improve Hana connect: flexible auto discovery of connection parameters (host, user and connect method from hdbuserstore, SAP profile, R3trans -d (SSFS), hdbsql \s, use_(source|target)_db=, sapcontrol)
  • Initial implementation for requirements checks for TableSets and UserExits

For 10.0, you have another reason to looking forward, besides christmas. This will be a very major release, which will, among others, contain our granular permissions and also will BlueSystemCopy and BlueClone move more closely together. OS and SAP UserExits will be integrated into one tab strip and there will be some more UserExit types. In addition to that, SAP UserExits will learn to be called directly via parameters, removing the necessity of creating a report variant in SAP in advance.

Today, we released Version 2.3 of BlueUserCopy. This version is now NW 7.31-based and finally allows for setting productive passwords, again, instead of initial passwords which have to be changed immediately at first login. This tool covers the use-case, when you need to have SAP users from or in different systems while preserving existing users. Release differences between systems are irrelevant, in contrast to SAP client copies using the copy profile SAP_USER, among others.  >>>

9.3.7 will be our last fix release before 9.4 and 10.0. In this release, there are many, many fixes for things you have reported to us, mostly in connection with new behaviour/features of the underlying RDBMS. All these things will of course be included in the following major releases. In the following, you will find an outline over all 9.3.x fix releases, this time a little bit lengthly.  >>>
