Just in-time before St. Nicolas Day and Christmas: Latest news about V8.6 coming this week!

If you are already looking forward to christmas, there is now another joyful event: The new release of BlueCopy, which has quite a bunch of smart new features and functions. Read on!

Main focus is the new arrangement of BDLS:

1) There are now more reasonable defaults for the two checkboxes of the BDLS report named "Determine Relevant Tables Again" and "Start Conversion of Tables with Special Handling". The former option has now "FIRST" as default, meaning that the tables are only determined again for the first BDLS run. This option can be overridden - as any other parameter - either by the BDLS config file or an expert switch. The "Special Handling" option, mainly required for BW/BI systems, has now YES as default, if it is available in your SAP release.

Already in a previous release, there has been added an automatic detection for the propably best value for the "Number of Entries per Commit", depending on the RDBMS you use: Hana has a default of 2.147.483.647, 1.000.000 for Oracle and 100.000 for any other RDBMS.

2) Better handling of "Own Logical System Name": The own logical system has been integrated into the grid/table, so there is no different handling for own and for other logical systems. Thus it is directly possible to specify an execution order (for the full use of this feature, you will have to update your GUI to V3.6 or higher).

3) There is now an automatic time accounting for BDLS, making it possible to analyze the most time-consuming parts of your BDLS run. It is planned to integrate a visualisation/analysis feature into the GUI.

Other areas of improvements are:

  • SKRDIR can now be configured on a system type basis (SAP, DB), even DB specific if you like, and also on a <SAPSID> Basis.
  • New and improved TableSets: (CRM, SCM, ...), EMGR.tab
  • kernelcheck=NO now ignores ANY differences (even if there might be errors when ignoring. So please be careful ...)
  • Option names are now case-insensitive
  • Better handling of special characters in passwords from the Password Safe
  • Improved handling for scheduling jobs (in background)
  • Enhanced su_cmd for HPU-less access setup, also on pure Unix/Linux environments

The new release 8.6 is expected to be publicly available on Friday, Dec 4th.

Have fun!

We are pleased to announce the release of version 9.2.3. This maintenance release contains several important fixes. Especially we are proud to provide a final solution for the nagging issue about DB2 SYSTOOLS tablespace that we had to design by ourselves as SAP introduced some contradictory procedure and was not really helpful in clarifying their goals.
